Although she wasn't able to get the win, local hope Catherine Harrison made a strong impression in the qualifying draw on Friday, pushing Angela Haynes to a 6-3 6-3 scoreline before falling to the former Top 100 player.

Harrison, just 15 years old from the Memphis suburb of Georgetown, lost the first four games of the match before finding the range on her two-fisted groundstrokes against the No.5-seeded Haynes, winning three of four games before dropping the first set. She put up a similar fight in the second set but in the end Haynes got the win by breaking her at love.

Harrison, who received a wildcard into the qualifying draw, is one of the country's fastest-rising junior stars, making a splash at the Orange Bowl last December by reaching the semifinals. She barely lost in that round too, leading 6-2 5-3 before falling to Kelsey Laurente.
