Bryan Brothers Defeat University of Memphis Doubles Team in First Round Action
First Round Doubles action took centre stage in a prime time performance that featured the Bryan Brothers, Mike and Bob, taking on the University of Memphis Tigers wildcard duo David O'Hare of Ireland and Joe Salisbury of Great Britain. The Bryan Brothers are the #1 ranked doubles team in the world. Of their 93 titles, they won their 85 ATP World Tour title here in Memphis last year.
Entering to thunderous applause and a raucous "student section," complete with a Tiger mascot, O'Hare and Salisbury clearly had the crowd in their court. They would hold their own and their serve through 9 games. The Bryan Brothers would break them in the tenth and take the first set 64. The Bryan's would jump out to an early 30 lead in the second and take the match 64 63 albeit with some outstanding play from the local amateurs.
The Bryan Brothers will face the Aussie team of Lleyton Hewitt and Chris Guccione in the quarterfinals.
